About owen

Always interested in Art and started painting in my teens. After qualifiying in medicine I combined being a GP with printing. Starting off making linocut books in 1966 & going on to combining them with letterpress text in books from 1972.

Miniature book

Today 23 September, I have completed printing my miniature book “The Curious Tale of Thomas Daumen”.
This short story by Terry Crockford was written specialy for me and my press. It is illustrated by collages and linocuts in several colours. It is ready for the binder and will be on view at the Oxford Fine Press Fair at the end of October. Nine months gestation and now for the birthing! This reminds me of my medical career.

Greenwich Market

For the past 3 months i have been showing my books at this famous craft market. Once a month has been interesting, but, the last visit actually produced some sales so am well pleased.

I’m continuing my short story printing. And very challenging it is proving to be. Three pages at a time, on a sheet taking 12 pages & 4 illustrations on each side. When folded that will make a book 3in x 2.Illustrations still to come!
